The Nevada Historical Society's Friendship Doll, Miss Wakayama received a white and yellow peace cap.

The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) awarded the Nevada State Museum a grant to rehouse, inventory, digitize, and publish the Museum's Native American textiles and Southwestern ceramics. Digitized images of these artifacts are now accessible to the public for the first time through the PastPerfect online portal. See full article for the link!

Native American Day takes place November 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. featuring Native American dancers, food and demonstrations.

This unique exhibit features cut paper drawings, photography and sculpture by Bobbie Ann Howell. The exhibit will run from August 2 to August 30, 2015. A "snowflake" workshop will take place August 29 from 11-2. The class starts every half hour and is open to ages 8 to adult. For more information call the museum at 702 397 2193.

The museum’s latest exhibit, Nevada Welcomes the World, is a celebration of the 100 year anniversary of Nevada’s contributions to the 1915 Panama-Pacific and California-Pacific International Expositions.

Join us for the opening of Becoming Animal: Standing Witness for the Sentient Wild, a new exhibit by local artist and naturalist Sharon Schafer.

An exhibit that explores the history of music on the Comstock during the summer of 1965. This fascinating exhibit is on display at the Nevada Historical Society from June 6th, 2015 through September 26th, 2015.
