The History of Carson City in Pictures by local historian Jed Block. In anticipation of the state’s sesquicentennial in 2014, local historian Jed Block offers a pictorial presentation of the Capital City. Block’s “then and now” program will highlight how Carson City has changed since its early history.

Jed Block is a third generation Nevadan, born and raised in Carson City. He graduated from Carson High School and went on to earn a B.A. in Communication from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, CA. Jed is currently appointed to the Board of Equalization, the Carson City Historical Resources Commission, President of the Brewery Arts Center, Chairman of the Carson City Redevelopment Authority Citizens Committee and the current Chairman of the Western Nevada College Foundation. He is very interested in Carson City History and has quite a collection of early Carson City images. His family owned business, State Agent and Transfer Syndicate, Inc. was formed in Carson City in 1903.
