Day Of The Dead Family Event (10:00 am)

Day of the Dead, a multicultural celebration of life, includes crafts for all ages, stories, Aztec and folk dancers, lectures, displays, songs, and traditional foods. The event runs from 10 am - 4 pm. Aztec dancers at 1 and 3 pm. The museum is located at 600 N. Carson Street in Carson City. Admission: FREE FOR MEMBERS AND CHILDREN 17 AND UNDER; Non-member adults are $8 each.

Native American Day (All Day)

Native American Day is Nov. 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Lost City Museum in Overton, Nevada, just over an hour from Las Vegas. The celebration features performances by Native dance groups and demonstrations by Native American artists. The event showcases performances and demonstrations from native artists. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase native made crafts and enjoy fun activities that include grinding mesquite pods with a mano and metate.

Frances Humphrey Lecture Series: Virginia City And Its Archaeology: A Thirty-Year Overview (6:30 pm)

Virginia City and its Archaeology: A Thirty-Year Overview by State Historic Preservation Officer, Ron James. This event includes both a lecture and book signing of Virginia City: Secrets of a Western Past. Admission: FREE FOR MEMBERS AND CHILDREN 17 AND UNDER; Non-member admission: $8 each.  The museum is located at 600 N. Carson Street in Carson City.

Behind The Scenes Tours In Natural History (10:00 am)

Join Curator of Natural History, Dr. George Baumgardner, for a tour "behind the scenes" to see natural history specimens not on display, get a sneak peak at the Discovery Lab, and learn more about future plans for natural history exhibit development.  Advanced registration is required and tours are limited to 6 people.  Regular admission fee: $8 for adults; FREE FOR MEMBERS AND CHILDREN 17 AND UNDER.  To reserve your space, contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Demonstration Of Coin Press No. 1 (10:30 am)
See Coin Press No. 1, the original press from the Carson City Mint in action stamping out commemorative medallions in .999 fine silver.  Medallions can be purchased in the Museum Store or at the press. Regular admission fee applies: $8 for adults; free for members and children 17 and under.
