RECEPTION AT NEVADA HISTORICAL SOCIETY FOR “NEVADA: HEART OF THE WEST” MINIATURES SHOW PDF Print

A public reception and awards are planned from 5:00 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 for a new show at the Nevada Historical Society in Reno.  Art in its miniature form graces the gallery through Dec. 8.  The society will display paintings and drawings no bigger than 36 square inches in the 5th Annual Miniature Juried Exhibition.  The event is in cooperation with Reno’s Latimer Art Club, established in 1921.

Artist Jane Hofstetter will judge the work.  She has been an artist, instructor and juror in northern California for more than 25 years.

Categories in the original art competition include oil and acrylics, water media, pastel, graphite or ink drawing and mixed media depicting the theme “Nevada: Heart of the West.” All of the paintings are for sale and will be featured in the Historical Society’s History for the Holidays marketplace and celebration Dec. 8 that also includes Nevada jewelry and art.   A percentage of the proceeds will help the society purchase new artwork for the museum artifact collection.

The Nevada Historical Society Museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday at 1650 N. Virginia Street, adjacent to the UNR campus.  Parking passes are available. Information is available at nevadaculture.org or (775) 688-1191.
