STEAM LOCOMOTIVE RIDES ON LABOR DAY WEEKEND AT STATE RAILROAD MUSEUM PDF Print

Unlimited rides on the 1905 Steam Locomotive No. 25 highlight the Labor Day weekend celebration at the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City.  The historic Virginia and Truckee train will carry passengers on half-hour tours from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., departing every 40 minutes.  Trains leave from, and return to, the Wabuska Depot, 2180 S. Carson St., Saturday through Monday, Sept 1 through 3.

Tickets include access to all exhibits and admission to the museum’s Jacobsen Interpretive Center, open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Outdoor exhibits will be on display from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The museum’s curator of history will offer two guided tours on Monday that include un-restored rail cars with local histories. Tours depart at 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Visitors must sign up in advance at the admission’s desk to ensure space.

Special pricing for the holiday event allows guests to buy one ticket for the entire day.  Adult train tickets are $12; children 12 to 17 are $6, and ages 4 to 11 are $3.  Children under 3 are free. Members receive discounts.
