Celebrate the Holidays with the Nevada State Museum and

Reno Coin Club Coin Minting Saturday

CARSON CITY, Nevada— The Nevada State Museum and Reno Coin Club are celebrating the holidays with a special coin minting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 17 at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson Street.   Regular museum admission applies.

Historic Coin Press No. 1 will mint several medallion designs with each bearing the famous “CC” mint mark. Reno Coin Club will host the State and National Parks Quarters exchange as well as the Presidential Dollar exchange.  The club will present educational exhibits on coin collecting. Ancient, obsolete U.S. and animal coins and paper money will be on display.

Visitors can take a tour and see the exhibits on the history of the Carson City U.S. Mint: the historic coin press No. 1, the “CC” coin collections and how coins are made, or watch the video in the Marshall Mint Theatre on the history of the famous “CC” mint.

The Nevada State Museum and the Reno Coin Club are both members of the American Numismatic Association, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.  The Nevada State Museum actively engages people in understanding and celebrating Nevada’s natural and cultural heritage.  Exhibits highlight the state’s history, geology, plants and animals, Native American cultural heritage, Historic Carson City Mint, a replica walk-through mine and ghost town.

Due to mandatory state budget restrictions, the museum is open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Wednesday through Saturday.  Please enter through the Dema Guinn Concourse. Admission: $8 adults; free for children 17 and under and museum members.  For information, call (775) 687-4810.
