Virginia and Truckee Railroad McKeen Motor Car No. 22

In 1996 the Nevada State Railroad Museum was given what remained of two historic self-propelled passenger cars, Virginia & Truckee McKeen car No. 22 and Nevada Copper Belt No. 22, a Hall-Scott car.

Restoration of the McKeen car, built and delivered to the V&T in 1910, was undertaken first and has been underway since 1997.  On October 15, 2009 a major milestone was passed as the McKeen car operated under its own pwoer for the first time since it was retired by the railroad in 1945.  In the coming months the car will receive final interior and exterior detailing.

A public unveiling of the car was held at the Nevada State Railroad Museum on Sunday, May 9, 2010 - 100 years to the day when the car first arrived in Carson City.
